Things to Remember As You Start Your Practice

Your Practice is not just the physical actions on the mat. It's how you are taking and applying the mindful actions throughout your day to be grounded and take care of yourself as you are taking care of others.

However, starting or building your practice can feel overwhelming or that you have to have it all figured out. You don't! This shouldn't feel like another thing you're adding to your already full plate. Your practice is something will grow and evolve at all times. Here are a few tips to think about as you find yourself on and off your mat.

  1. Give yourself grace: Progress, growth and change aren't linear. Meet yourself where you are and know that even if it's just showing up is enough.

  2. Stay Consistent but define what that means for you: Your version of consistency should fit into your current reality. It may be 10 minutes a day, 1 action a day, or a few times a week. As long as you are showing up and honoring + sticking to what is realistic is enough.

  3. Start Small and build over time: All steps no matter how small add up. Taking even the smallest step will guide you towards lasting change. Let your practice grow naturally, without putting stress on the progress.

  4. Listen to your body and your breath: Your body and your breath teach you so much about where you are in the moment. Allow it to be your guide and compass. Move when you need to move but also rest when you need.

  5. Share your journey with others: Connection deepens practice. Inspire and be inspired by others. Also communicate with those around you what you are focused on or when and what you are practicing. This allows for you to make sure you are setting and communicating to the time and space to devote to you.

An Introduction to Awareness Checks

What Are Awareness Checks?

In the rust of a high-impact life-where you're leading, caring, creating, and giving- it's easy to move on autopilot. Awareness Checks invite you to pause, breathe, and reconnect with what's actually happening right now.

These quick, no-mat needed moments help you reset your energy and presence in a few simple moments.

Check out some options for bringing Awareness Checks into your life and start building mindful pauses into your day-one breath at a time.

How To Get Started

  • A best practice is to choose 2-3 times a day where you think a pause like this would be beneficial. Set your alarm for these times to help you remember

  • Choose 1 area to focus on each week or day and then build over time. This allows you to get curious and flexible about making this a practice without the stress of adding too much to your plate.
